As part of the Science Month activities aligned with the celebration of the Day of Scientists in Kazakhstan (April 12), the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Akhmet Yasawi University—specifically the Department of Ecology and Chemistry—organized a scientific seminar on April 9, 2025, at 15:00.
The seminar featured a presentation by Professor R.N. Nurdillayeva titled “Features of the LESLIE International Erasmus+ Project.” LESLIE (Land Management, Environment & Solid-Waste: Inside Education and Business in Central Asia) is an innovative Erasmus+ initiative aimed at strengthening higher education capacity in environmental science, sustainable land use, and solid waste management across Central Asia.
Professor Nurdillayeva, who leads the project, provided an overview of its objectives, ongoing activities, and expected outcomes. Her presentation emphasized the project’s contribution to fostering academic excellence, promoting international collaboration, and enhancing the integration of sustainability principles into university curricula.
The seminar was well attended and sparked active engagement from participants, who gained valuable insights into how LESLIE is shaping environmental education and professional development in the region.
