Welcome to the LESLIE Sustainable Land Management (SLM) International Conference 2026
19–20 October 2026 | Bukhara (Uzbekistan)
The consortium of the LESLIE Project is pleased to invite you to the LESLIE Sustainable Land Management (SLM) International Conference 2026, which will take place in the historic city of Bukhara on 19 and 20 October 2026.
This international conference is organized within the framework of the LESLIE project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, and hosted by partner institutions in Uzbekistan. It represents a key milestone in the project’s objective to strengthen academic capacity, innovation, and knowledge transfer in the field of Sustainable Land Management (SLM) across Central Asia.
The conference aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, policymakers, practitioners, and students working in areas related to land degradation, soil and water management, climate change adaptation, and environmental sustainability. Particular emphasis will be placed on challenges specific to arid and semi-arid regions, including Central Asia.
Building upon the LESLIE project’s strategic vision, the conference seeks to:
- Promote the exchange of scientific and technical knowledge on SLM practices
- Foster dialogue between academia, industry, and public institutions
- Encourage the development of innovative tools and methodologies for land and water management
- Strengthen regional and international collaboration networks
The LESLIE consortium, composed of European and Central Asian universities and stakeholders, actively promotes capacity building through curriculum development, training programmes, and the establishment of the SLM International Hub. The conference will serve as a forum to present project results, share best practices, and discuss future perspectives towards sustainable environmental management.
Located along the historic Silk Road, Bukhara offers a unique cultural and architectural heritage, providing an inspiring setting for scientific exchange and professional networking. Participants will have the opportunity not only to engage in high-level technical discussions, but also to experience one of Central Asia’s most emblematic cities.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bukhara to share knowledge, address environmental challenges, and advance sustainable land management solutions at an international level.
